I am the SAGE Junior Research Fellow at the University of California, Santa Barbara’s SAGE Center for the Study of the Mind. Before coming to UCSB, I completed my PhD in Experimental Psychology under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Richardson at the University College London. I recently visited the Kokoro Research Center at Kyoto University supported by a JSPS research fellowship.
My research investigates how social contexts shape the human mind, thought and behaviour. I primarily focus on the psychological study of social hierarchy from social, cultural as well as socio-cognitive neuroscience perspectives. I am interested in how cultures shape social hierarchy, how higher or lower ranks guide visual attention, as well as the differential psychological effects of dominance and prestige.
I have received a number of prestigious awards and research fellowships including an International Cultural Neuroscience Consortium Student Travel Award in 2013, a Bogue Research Fellowship in 2014 and a Research Fellowship from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science in 2015.
